Meet Sam

I’m Sam, a Specialist Developmental Practitioner working alongside children, adolescents, young adults and families through long-term developmental mentoring and consultation.

I have been practicing in broader youth development since 2019, and have worked with young people and their families across Australia and internationally, drawing on more than 2,000 mentoring sessions delivered in homes, schools and community settings.

My work has included long-term developmental mentoring with young people experiencing trauma, disability, school disengagement, isolation, addiction and complex family circumstances, alongside delivering youth development initiatives within Indigenous communities and internationally in Oakland, California and the Bronx, New York City.

My practice is centred on helping young people strengthen identity, communication, responsibility, confidence and to find their path forward with meaningful participation in everyday life through consistent, long-term engagement.

A significant part of my work also involves supporting communication and collaboration between young people, their families and the broader network of professionals involved in their lives, helping create greater consistency across home, school and community environments.

Alongside my private practice, I am the Founder and Director of Thrive Outreach Australia, where I lead specialist youth development initiatives and creative engagement programs for schools, organisations and communities.

In 2025, I presented a keynote at the International Childhood Trauma Conference, hosted by the Australian Childhood Foundation, sharing my framework for youth engagement through Hip Hop-based songwriting and music creation alongside leaders in trauma-informed practice.
