Rhook Development.
A relationship-centred approach to long-term developmental mentoring, built around consistency, collaboration and meaningful engagement.
Approach
Every young person has a unique history, family system, set of strengths and developmental needs.
Rather than applying a standardised program or predetermined pathway, each engagement is individually tailored and evolves through ongoing collaboration with the young person, their family and broader support network.
Development is viewed as a long-term process, where trust, consistency and meaningful relationships create the foundation for lasting change.
The relationship itself becomes a central part of the developmental process, creating opportunities for young people to develop new ways of thinking, communicating and participating in everyday life.
How the Practice Works
Families typically approach the practice with a particular concern, such as school refusal, social isolation, family conflict, gaming or developmental challenges.
While these concerns provide a starting point, they rarely define the entirety of the work. As trust develops, the engagement often expands to address the young person's broader developmental needs.
Where appropriate, I work alongside parents, schools, psychologists, paediatricians and allied health professionals to strengthen communication, consistency and shared direction across the young person's everyday life.
Bridging Clinical Care and Everyday Life
My work often sits between the clinical environment and the young person's everyday life.
As a non-clinical practitioner, I work alongside psychologists, paediatricians, allied health professionals and families, supporting young people in the environments where everyday development occurs.
This often involves translating developmental goals into practical experiences across home, school, community, social relationships, education, employment and increasing independence.
Where appropriate, I maintain communication with involved professionals, helping create continuity between clinical understanding and the young person's everyday experiences.
The Relationship Is the Intervention.
Locations
Based in Hawthorn, Victoria, Rhook Development provides in-person engagements throughout the Melbourne region, with online consultations available where appropriate.
Engagements regularly take place within homes, community settings and professional environments.
The practice is intentionally delivered within real-world environments, allowing developmental work to occur where everyday life is actually lived.
