Life Beyond the Bedroom.
Supporting social, emotional, creative and physical development through meaningful participation in everyday life.
Developmental Mentoring
Developmental mentoring extends beyond conversation. While reflection is an important part of the work, meaningful development occurs through participation in everyday life.
Engagements are tailored to the individual and may include supporting young people to:
Develop healthy routines and structure
Build confidence through community participation
Strengthen physical wellbeing through exercise and movement
Improve communication and social engagement
Navigate school, employment or vocational pathways
Increase independence and everyday life skills
Develop stronger relationships with family and professionals
Build identity, responsibility and confidence through real-world experiences
Rather than taking place exclusively in an office, mentoring often occurs within homes, schools and community settings where development naturally unfolds.
“You taught me how to be a man. You showed me that violence is not the answer and that the gang life wasn’t really what I thought it was.”
“You didn’t make me come out of my shell, but encouraged the things that made me - me. So therefore, I felt more connected to myself”
“Your talks make me feel validated and don’t feel intimidating, like speaking with a school psychologist. Rather than feeling like ‘this is psychologist, I must have something wrong with me’ it just helps me open up more.”
